Please note that this call is open to Ugandan women artists at home and in the Diaspora.
What do we mean by 2024 -2025 programming?.
Programming could mean a wide spectrum of events and activities to be implemented through 2024 - 2025.
To give you an idea, previous successful candidates have participated in programming such as our Annual Njabala Exhibition which takes place every March (we launched this in 2022 - see links in bio to see past editions, and preparations for the 2023 edition are underway), other exhibitions abroad, residencies, research projects, mentorship programs etc.
We make the Open Call so organic that we can’t determine which kind of programming will be taken on by the successful applicants before we know who they are and what makes sense for the stage of their practice.
After vetting the applicants and confirming their interest is participating, we hold assessment meetings to define the programs that are apt.
Until now, one assured programming has been the participation in the Annual Njabala Exhibition, but this is not mandatory.
We strive to meet our artists at their place of need rather than imposing what we feel is necessary.
