Babirye Erina Fridah

Mixed Media Artist Printmaker
I am a mixed-media artist who focuses on the intersections of the female body and nature to provoke thought and encourage dialogue on femininity found in nature. I am inspired by the textures, colors, and forms found in the organic landscapes and the curves and contours of the female body to create juxtaposed works that imitate these natural elements, emphasizing harmony, vulnerability, and power. I seek to unveil these connections, highlighting their raw beauty and symbiotic relationship. My work blends traditional painting techniques with prints, collage, and recycled materials
Over the years,I have exhibited in group exhibitions and participated in notable residencies, including the Moving Image Workshop (2024), Resilient Spirit Workshop (2023), and the Transdisciplinary Regenerative Encounter Residency Uganda (TERRUR) (2021-2022). My work has been featured in venues such as AfriArt Gallery, Umoja Gallery, and Xenson Art Space, and I was also shortlisted for the Makumbya Musoke Art Prize and the Tilga Art Fund.

I have also started experimenting exploring videography and installations using television in the Byabakazi exhibition. To further develop my knowledge on video installations, I attended the moving image workshop at Afropocene studio lab.
