Portrait of Evelyn Bageire

Evelyn Bageire

Painter Pyrographer
Evelyn Bageire is a Ugandan based artist who has been practicing art since early school days. She studied at the Royal school, Hampstead where she began harnessing her craft with a lot of experimentation with paint, the brush, pencil and the odd smart white board pen that always got her in a lot of trouble with her teachers. She later went on to do a bachelor's degree in Art and Industrial Design from Kyambogo university. This is where she narrowed down to portraiture as a focal point of her art. She takes particular interest in portraiture as an art form due to its two most important communicative styles: the impression; as what people perceive of the person based on the subject's physical appearance, and the identity: The subject's identity is one that resonates with quite a number of people who always take keen interest in the art form and the art work. The story told that goes beyond the image is one that has always been an inspiration to her art. Her core method of execution has always been painting and she has had quite a relationship with the paint brush. Lately, form has been one that has taken her interest due to its enhancement in composition of subjects and contrast of the work as a whole. This is why she has taken up Pyrography as a new art form to express and showcase my work from the colors in painting to the monotones in Pyrography. There is nothing that beats experimentation in her journey as an artist; and she is excited for what is to come and what will be overcome.
