Nabulime Victoria is a Co-founder for Muumba Collective a non profit organization that supports female artists in East Africa through a collaborative network, mentorships and career development opportunities. Victoria graduated at Nagenda International Academy of Art and Design with a Diploma in Art and Design. Growing up in a very artistic environment, Victoria showed interest in art at the age of 5. She started with small drawings of faces and flowers on paper in her father’s studio. Her professional practice started in 2019, ever since then she has been trying to discover herself artistically. Her figurative abstract explores themes of sisterhood, the life cycle of women including the coming of age, the impact of the patriarch which seeks to silence us and the resilience of the female spirit. She has previously worked on a series of work titled SISTERS, where she explores the coming of age and relationships between sisters. She continues her apprenticeship with her father (who’s a sculptor) and also doubles as her mentor. Victoria has a unique style of painting, her subjects are mostly females and she believes that the future is female. In the shortest time Victoria has participated in multiple group exhibitions and art residencies. She also had her very first Solo pop up show in March 2022 at Wild coffee bar in Kampala organized by The Creative Tribe. In 2022 Victoria had her very first solo exhibition at Xenson Art Space which was titled Sisters. This exhibition was also featured in the East African Newspaper.
