Ruth Luyiga Packruhn

Mixed Media Artist Illustrator
Luyiga Packruhn, born in 1973 in Kampala, Uganda, is a qualified designer and versatile artist who completed her studies at the Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences / German in 2000. It was there that she discovered her passion for art, which is reflected in her comprehensive education in fashion graphics, collection design, and art history. Through an unconventional approach to materials and innovative techniques, she laid the foundation for her unique style, particularly characterized by her love for collages. During her time as a graphic designer and assistant in advertising photography, she experienced a creative versatility that enriched her artistic expression. The period of motherhood became a time of experimentation, during which she created approximately ten large-format abstract “Zebra Landscapes” using mixed media on canvas. Simultaneously, she produced portraits of men on denim, fashion graphics titled “Temporal Landscapes” in acrylic, as well as various drawings and art photographs. To deepen her skills in oil painting, she attended workshops in the Netherlands. As a mixed-media artist, she showcased her work in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Lower Saxony, where she engaged a broad audience. In the digital age, she decided to combine her creativity with digital media. In 2013, she began studying illustration and computer graphics at the IBKK (Institute for Education in Visual Arts and Art Therapy) in Bochum-Wattenscheid / German. By2015, she became a freelance artist and opened her studio, LuyigArt, where she both sells and rents her artworks for private and public spaces. Over the next five years, her “Paradise Landscapes” emerged, inviting viewers to engage their imaginations. In her exhibitions, she encourages audiences to immerse themselves in these fantastical landscapes, exchanging stories and small poems— an experience designed to reactivate their own creativity and facilitate personal journeys. In her quest for self-discovery, Ruth unlocked a deeper connection to her spirituality. This transformation inspired her to enable others to access their own spirituality through her artworks. Her healing images, often used for meditation in everyday life, are available in various formats, from cards to large-scale wall installations.
