Kengi; real name Sarafina Kebirungi was born in 1997 in a region enriched by the Rwenzori Mountains and diverse wildlife, nature has profoundly influenced her artistic journey. She pursued a bachelor's degree in art and industrial design, specializing in textiles, where she honed her weaving skills in macramé, pile tufting, loom weaving, and various fabric decoration techniques, including print design, tie-dye, screen printing, stitching, and embroidery. This education deepened her understanding of different fibers and their transformation into
fabrics, fostering a mindful approach to materials. After graduation, she joined an kuzu-kiza; an architectural and interior design firm as a researcher, focusing on natural materials, color analysis, and design concepts. This role highlighted the impact of materials on space and emotions. Driven by curiosity and a commitment to research, she continually explores innovative uses of natural materials in art and design.Currently, she is enhancing her fiber art skills while prioritizing sustainability, alongside her interests in food, health, gardening, psychology, and nature exploration.
